Isaiah 61:3 - The civil war leaves Guatemalans destruction across the country and all walks of life. The Lord calls us to bind up the brokenhearted. Our initial purpose is to prepare Guatemalan adolescents to become independent citizens in their society; while also connecting with others to promote community participation, collaboration and raise awareness against stigmatization of this minority group. Lastly we want to advocate for these adolescents in order to give them a voice in their own society.
We also in the long term hope to diminish cultural tendencies of institutionalization to break the vicious cycle of oppression inside a subculture of the adolescents here. While also equipping these individuals to train them as future leaders using their experiences of suffering to make real changes in the direction of their country.
We aim to provide a model of reintegration and leadership training for Guatemalan young adults leaving institutional settings. We also intend on interconnecting the local community with the Guatemalan young adults. And finally, we hope to collaborate internationally with businesses, organizations, and communities.
